Contrary to the requirements of pension legislation, some Ukrainians can count on an increase in their pension payments after reaching the age of 65.

This is a guaranteed minimum pension amount, which cannot be lower than 40% of the minimum wage and subsistence minimum for disabled communities, the PFU explained.
If the accrued pension is less than the state-established minimum, the difference is compensated by a special supplement. To do this, you must have a full insurance period: 35 years for men and 30 for women. In case of less service, the amount of payments will be determined in proportion to the available years.
The supplement can be received not only by those who have retired by age, but also by persons with disabilities, pensioners by length of service, or those who receive payments in connection with the loss of a breadwinner. It is important that there is no need to contact the Pension Fund – the supplement will be calculated automatically.

Dynamics of increases
In 2024, the minimum payments for older people were revised twice: at the beginning of the year they were 2,840 UAH, and in April they increased to 3,200 UAH. Since 2025, despite the unchanged level of the “minimum”, as part of indexation, the pension for people over 65 years of age has increased to 3,758 UAH. For those who will reach 65 years of age in 2025, the supplement will begin to be accrued from the day after their birthday if the amount of their pension turns out to be lower than the state-guaranteed minimum.
