Prediction time! Ahead of the 2025 NFL season, the Sky Sports NFL team makes their predictions – from MVP favorites to Super Bowl opponents…
MVP
NDAMUKONG SUH: Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens. He's going to need an MVP season to not only beat the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills, but to get to the Super Bowl and get there.
NEIL REYNOLDS: Joe Burrow, QB, Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Cool was overlooked in 2024 because the Bengals missed the playoffs. But if he leads his team to a playoff win this time around, Burrow, who should be a productive player again, will rightfully be considered the best player this season.
JASON BELL: Joe Burrow, QB, Cincinnati Bengals. I believe in a healthy Joe Burrow. He'll be off to a hot start. And with two receivers, he'll be hot when he's on the field.
JEFF REINBOLD: Josh Allen, quarterback, Buffalo Bills. This is a quarterback award, and I see Allen leading the Bills to their first Super Bowl in the final year of what was once Rich Stadium.

PHOEBE SCHECTER: Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens. If he plays like he did last year, it's a no-brainer. They have the same supporting cast, and Lamar is really unique with his ability on the ground and in the air.
HANNAH WILKES: Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens. He was on top of his game again last year, and he was brilliant in the pocket, a position where he was often considered a bit weak. The Ravens as a unit are going to continue to be one of, if not the best team in the league, so he's poised to succeed again in 2025. Now can they please hold on until January!?
OLIVIA HARLAN DEKKER: Joe Burrow, QB, Cincinnati Bengals. Burrow had a terrific season last year with a lot of memorable moments. He is one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. After his best season and a great offseason, I expect Burrow to once again build one of the best offenses in the league.
CAM HOGWOOD: Joe Burrow, quarterback, Cincinnati Bengals. If not for Cincinnati's slow start last season, I think he probably would have won MVP. The current league leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns will lead the Bengals back to the playoffs with another productive season.
In the Philadelphia Special, Sky Sports pundit Ndamukong Suh meets his former teammates and Super Bowl winners, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Best forward of the year
NDAMUKONG SUH: Jared Goff, QB, Detroit Lions. He will continue to play at a very high level and lead the Detroit Lions deep into the playoffs.
NEIL REYNOLDS: Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles. I know this is an obvious choice, but I think Saquon Barkley will repeat his success with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles won't be afraid to run the ball, and he'll have plenty of opportunities to be the focal point of the offense again. No running back in history has ever rushed for over 2,000 yards in a season twice, and I think he has a chance this year.
JASON BELL: Nico Collins, RW, Houston Texans. I'm a huge bet on Nico Collins. I think this is going to be a big year for the Texans with C.J. Stroud back.
PHOEBE SCHECTER: Ja'Marr Chase, RW, Cincinnati Bengals. He won three titles last year and would have been a contender if not for Saquon. He'll need a similar year this time around for the Bengals, as the defense has improved only slightly.
JEFF REINBOLD: Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles. Barkley cemented his place as one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, rushing for more than 1,500 yards with the Eagles.
HANNAH WILKES: Jameer Gibbs, running back, Detroit Lions. There are a few names I could throw out there, but I'd go with Jameer Gibbs. He's had an incredible 2024, and with the changes at OC, the Lions offense may look a little different this season, but I think he'll continue to make plays, rack up scrimmage yards, and keep his chains (albeit invisible right now) moving.
OLIVIA HARLAN DEKKER: Ja'Marr Chase, wide receiver, Cincinnati Bengals. Chase is coming off a 1,700-yard, 17-touchdown season. He's only 25 years old and has four straight 1,000-yard seasons — he's just getting started.
CAM HOGWOOD: Bijan Robinson, RB, Atlanta Falcons . I think Robinson leads the NFL in scrimmage yards, serving as the centerpiece of the Falcons' offense and Michael Penix Jr.'s perfect right-hand man.
Watch Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Saquon Barkley deflect a defender back in an incredible play last season.
Defender of the Year
NDAMUKONG SUH: Micah Parsons, ED, Green Bay Packers. The Packers want this trade to change his life and career and give him every chance to prove himself on this defense so they can make the playoffs and make money.
NEIL REYNOLDS: T.J. Watt, EJ, Pittsburgh Steelers. Watt is frustrated with his team's late-season slide and will be motivated to keep pushing for the playoffs. Pittsburgh will be relying heavily on defense. Watt has an instinctive sense of when to make big plays and executes on them. I think he'll be the best defensive player in the NFL this season.
JASON BELL: Micah Parsons, EDG, Green Bay Packers He'll be full of energy and ready to tear everyone apart.
PHOEBE SCHECTER: Aidan Hutchinson, EDG, Detroit Lions. Everyone loves a comeback story, and if the Lions follow through, he'll be a key player.
JEFF REINBOLD: Micah Parsons, EDGE, Green Bay Packers The perfect chess piece, Micah Parsons has earned every penny of his NFL-record non-quarterback contract and led the Packers to an NFC North title.
HANNAH WILKES: Jared Vers, EDGE, Los Angeles Rams. I'm betting on Jared Vers to improve his DROTY status from last season. He'll be a true game-changer, coming as close as possible to replacing Aaron Donald. Despite his success last year, the Rams' defense wasn't up to par, but I expect them to make a leap forward in 2025, and Vers will be at the center of it.
OLIVIA HARLAN DEKKER: Myles Garrett, EDGE, Cleveland Browns. He's the most consistent monster in the league. He had the summer to focus on the Browns after signing a new contract. He was incredibly dominant in the joint workouts and crushed opposing offenses. He had to be contained and his reps limited!
CAM HOGWOOD: Micah Parsons, EDGE, Green Bay Packers. His arrival completely changes this division, this conference, and the Super Bowl race. Jeff Hafley is ready to unleash hell on Green Bay's opponents, and Parsons is putting up impressive stats on a championship-ready roster.
Philadelphia Eagles' Jalen Hurts discusses the value linebacker Saquon Barkley brings to the team.
Most significant acquisition of the offseason
NDAMUKONG SUH: Ben Johnson, Head Coach, Chicago Bears. The Bears' biggest offseason acquisition will be new head coach Ben Johnson. He will do wonders for Caleb Williams and make the team much better than it was last year and potentially make the playoffs in a tough division.
NEIL REYNOLDS: Ben Johnson, Head Coach, Chicago Bears. Micah Parsons’ arrival in the NFC North has drawn a lot of attention to the Green Bay Packers, but in my opinion, the most significant offseason acquisition in the division remains Ben Johnson as the Chicago Bears’ head coach. His partnership with Caleb Williams will be interesting and promising, and it looks good for the Bears as they add depth to their offensive line. Of course, Williams was sacked 68 times last year.
JASON BELL: Micah Parsons, EDG, Green Bay Packers. I also think Parsons is the most important signing of the offseason. He can take this team to the Super Bowl.
PHOEBE SCHECTER: Joe Thuney, D, Chicago Bears. I think Joe Thuney coming to the Bears will be a game changer for Caleb Williams. We've seen what he can do when he has a little bit of protection. Hopefully that means he can think less about the defensive line and more about getting the ball to the playmaker.
JEFF REINBOLD: Mike Vrabel, head coach, New England Patriots: Signs of change were everywhere in New England training camp.
HANNAH WILKES: Micah Parsons, EDGE, Green Bay Packers. Two words: Mike. Parsons. If you looked at the Packers last year, you'd think they were a few dimes away from being a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Jerry Jones just gave them one of those dimes.
OLIVIA HARLAN DEKKER: Micah Parsons, ED, Green Bay Packers. Parsons’ addition has galvanized a Packers team (and fans) that may be one step away from the deeper playoff push they’ve been missing. The Packers were already a top-10 defense last year, and now they’ve added Pro Football Focus’ highest-graded linebacker with the best pressure rating since 2021!
CAM HOGWOOD: Liam Cohen, head coach, Jacksonville Jaguars. Of course, I'd pick Micah Parsons, but I was fortunate enough to see everyone else's answers first, so to try to weigh these options, let's look at Jacksonville. Cohen just helped Baker Mayfield prepare for another career year in Tampa, and I think he's going to do the same with Trevor Lawrence in what will be a “prove it” year for the former No. 1 overall pick.
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff explains why he thinks the NFC North is the strongest division in the NFL
Surprise package
NDAMUKONG SUH: I think the Washington Commanders will be the surprise team to win the NFC East, especially now that Jaden Daniels has Terry McLaurin, who no longer has contract issues.
NEIL REYNOLDS: I would bet on the Jacksonville Jaguars. I don’t think they’ll make the playoffs this year because the AFC is so competitive, but I think they’ll improve a lot under Liam Cohen. Trevor Lawrence needs to bounce back, find success, and find stability under a new head coach who I hope will be around for a long time. There’s also a lot of interest in Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Hunter. They missed the playoffs this year, but I think they’re laying the groundwork for a successful 2026.
JASON BELL: I think it would probably surprise a lot of people if the Houston Texans made it to the final four. I believe it's possible.
PHOEBE SCHECTER: The Las Vegas Raiders! New life, Pete Carroll, good young talent in Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty. Or the Tennessee Titans. They drafted Cam Ward, a sharp shooter who, unlike many first-round quarterbacks, is already joining a strong offensive line. If he and Calvin Ridley get along, I think the defense will be pretty dangerous.
JEFF REINEBOLD: Vrabel will make the Patriots stronger, more playoff ready!
HANNAH WILKES: New England Patriots. I don't think there's going to be a miracle in Boston, but I think with Mike Vrabel at the helm, we'll see where this team can go with Drake Maye in the next couple of years. Also, this is a lot more negative than I'd like, but I'm afraid we might be surprised at how bad the New Orleans Saints can be in 2025.
OLIVIA HARLAN DEKKER: ” The Arizona Cardinals! They had a quiet offseason and last year injuries were a disaster. With Budda Baker, Trey McBride and Kyler Murray, they can be dangerous. They have more depth on both sides of the ball.
KAM HOGWOOD: Is it a surprise? I'm not sure. The Seattle Seahawks are always within striking distance of winning, the only question usually being the strength of their division. Mike McDonald's defense, which features Devon Witherspoon, is expected to be one of the most disruptive and innovative in the NFL as it battles the Los Angeles Rams for the NFC West.
Josh Allen remains confident the Buffalo Bills can beat the Kansas City Chiefs this season.
Shocker team to miss playoffs
NDAMUKONG SUH: I don't think it will be a shock, but it will be a shock to the world, as it always is if the Dallas Cowboys for whatever reason don't make the playoffs.
NEIL REYNOLDS: If there's a really good team that's going to surprise us and get knocked out of the playoff race, I'm worried and concerned that it could be the Minnesota Vikings . I really like that team, they're a great defense, they have so many weapons on offense, but until I see how quickly J.J. McCarthy gets his bearings at quarterback, that's going to be my concern. It's the most important position in football. He's a guy that seems to have all the tools. If he hits the ground running, the Vikings are a playoff team, if he slips up at all, they could miss out on a competitive division.
JASON BELL: ” Dallas Cowboys.” Hey, why not?
PHOEBE SCHECTER: Pittsburgh Steelers. I think AFC North is more competitive, they already have a hard time getting to the finals, and I'm concerned about some of the aging defense. It will be interesting to see D.K. Metcalf, but can he make a difference against Aaron Rodgers? I don't know.
JEFF REINBOLD: Detroit Lions miss playoffs! As a Lions fan, it pains me to write this, but the loss of coordinators and talented players, a stronger NFC North roster, and what appears to be Detroit's annual injury woes are putting an end to the Lions' playoff hopes.
HANNAH WILKES: Washington Commanders. They completely exceeded expectations last year, so some regression is to be expected, and despite the strengthening of their offensive line, I fear that Jayden Daniels' injury could derail their entire season.
OLIVIA HARLAN DEKKER: The Washington Commanders will miss the playoffs! Sophomore slumps are common for quarterbacks, and Jaden Daniels could see his excellent rookie season on a tough NFC East team slip away. More primetime games this year will add a little more pressure.
KEM HOGWOOD: Let's say the Minnesota Vikings. It'll all depend on how quickly and successfully J.J. McCarthy adjusts to the NFL as a starter after missing his rookie season. Luckily, he has the perfect offensive architect in J.J. McCarthy overseeing his development, but there are still some natural doubts about Minnesota's ability to replicate last season's success. Justin Jefferson is the best receiver in the league, and Brian Flores' defense is one of the most fearsome, but it could take time for McCarthy to get comfortable in this dreadful division.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts is reflecting on his viral video of himself lighting a cigar in the locker room after the Philadelphia Eagles won the 2025 Super Bowl by beating the Kansas City Chiefs.
Super Cup
NDAMUKONG SUH: The Detroit Lions are going to beat the Baltimore Ravens. I think my MVP (Lamar Jackson) and the Offensive Player of the Year (Jared Goff) will meet in the Super Bowl, where the Lions will win their first championship ring in history!
NEIL REYNOLDS: The Baltimore Ravens will beat the Detroit Lions. Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara will be the arena where Lamar Jackson will make good on his promises and finally dispel any doubts about his ability to win in the big moments. The Ravens have the best quarterback in the league and one of the strongest rosters in the league. And that will be enough to finally make everything come together in California.
JASON BELL: Baltimore Ravens to beat Philadelphia Eagles.
PHOEBE SCHECTER: The Buffalo Bills are going to beat the Philadelphia Eagles. Bills, baby!! But I'm still rooting for the Eagles!
JEFF REINBOLD: Buffalo Bills to beat Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
HANNAH WILKES: The Baltimore Ravens will beat the Philadelphia Eagles. If ANYONE can beat the Chiefs in the AFC, this is their chance (Joe, Josh, Lamar, ANYONE!?). However, for the sixth year in a row, I'm betting on the Ravens… to win Super Bowl 60 over the Eagles. I think Philly has a shot at a comeback, but adding Lombardi would be too much.
OLIVIA HARLAN DEKKER: The Baltimore Ravens will beat the Green Bay Packers. The Ravens are a constant threat thanks to great coaching and a great roster. They were one play away from beating a strong Bills team last year. Green Bay has addressed two of its biggest needs on both sides of the ball. The addition of Matthew Golden should give Jordan Love a solid first target to take his game to the next level.
KEM HOGWOOD: The Philadelphia Eagles will beat the Baltimore Ravens. The Eagles still have the most complete roster in the NFL, and that will be on display when Tyler Steen seamlessly replaces Mekhi Becton at right guard, keeping the league's best offensive line running smoothly. That's how Jeff Stoutland does it, that's how they do it. Saquon Barkley is on fire, Jaylen Carter is harassing the offensive line, and Jalen Hurts is thriving again at the highest levels. The Philadelphia Eagles have broken the Ravens' hearts twice in a row.
