St Helens responded quickly, capitalising on a team error to equalise through Chantelle Crowl and then break through to the front of the net for the first time through Dani McGifford, but Wigan pulled one back when Anna Davies headed home after a powerful run from Mia Atherton.
Rachel Vusi's try put St Helens ahead at half-time, but Georgia Wilson's goal and a late first-half strike saw Wigan close the gap to 16-14.
The second half started tensely, with Grace Banks scoring a powerful strike to give Wigan the lead, but Phoebe Hook tried to level the scores again for the Saints.
St Helens hit back at Wigan Warriors with a brilliant second-half equaliser.
But Wigan's pressure proved decisive, with Foubister's powerful strike forcing a costly pass from Beri Salihi and in the ensuing scrum Banks setting up Molly Jones for the winning try with eight minutes remaining.
Despite conceding a goal, Wigan showed resilience in the dying minutes to claim their third trophy of the season, with their sights set on a fourth in the Super League Grand Final.
“Always the best side”

Wigan Warriors Women manager Denis Betts: “I'm proud of them anyway. The result here doesn't make me any prouder.”
“We have worked very hard this year, and our team is very young and we spend little time together. We still have so much to do and so much more to achieve.”
“I think we've been the better team consistently this year, to be honest. That means a lot to me. They're a great team that loves to play. What a great show today. Fantastic day.”
“Little mistakes cost the Saints dearly”
St Helens manager Craig Richards: “It was a great difference, obviously. First of all, both teams played fantastically. We tried our best but it's no use trying if we make little mistakes and little mistakes every now and then allowed them back into the game. And when you're chasing a game, that's difficult.”
Players will be injured, but they don't need anything to lift the team. We've done it before, we'll get back on our horse and run. Now our goal is to win the semi-final and reach the final.

“We want all four”
Player of the Match – Isabelle Rowe: “It’s amazing. We set ourselves targets at the start of the season, we wanted to compete and win titles. We’ve done that this year, but we’re not done yet – we want to win all four. Now all eyes are on the Grand Final!”
