People's Deputy Andriy Parubiy, who was killed on August 30 in Lviv, did not apply to the National Police or the Security Service of Ukraine for protection, Deputy Head of the National Police – Head of the Criminal Police Andriy Nebytov said at a briefing on Monday.
He added that at the moment the investigation is still working out different versions of the murder, including the question of whether the deputy was being followed, and will report this information when they have enough evidence, if it does not harm the investigation.
Nebytov does not rule out that the murder of Parubiy was ordered by the Russian Federation, but added that he cannot provide clear evidence at this time.
“We are studying all motives, we are not eliminating any of the versions. We continue to work in all directions. Investigative and operational groups are working on separate versions. But today we can say that the person had the intention to commit murder. We do not rule out that this was a Russian trace, that this was an order from the Russian Federation,” he noted, adding that the suspect in the murder “had certain circumstances under which he committed this murder.”

The SBU noted that the assassination attempt on Parubiy was carefully planned in advance. The perpetrator monitored the victim's movements, determined the route, and prepared a retreat plan.
