Matt Wallace was looking to maintain his lead after posting 65 and 63 on the second day of a weather-damaged marathon at the European Masters to leave him one stroke behind the club leader.
In a race for the lead after lengthy fog delays on Thursday in Switzerland, defending champion Wallace played 36 holes on Friday after failing to start his first round on day one.
The Englishman made 15 birdies and three bogeys in two rounds, finishing 12 under par and one stroke behind Frenchman Adrien Saddier.
Wallace is aiming to be among the Ryder Cup rookies and Luke Donald will name his six captains live on Sky Sports from 2pm on Monday 1 September.
Wallace said: “I had three great nines. I would say that.”
