Until recently, grants from the “My Electricity” program were initially distributed like hotcakes. Now, the pace of distribution has slowed, but there's still plenty to be won. You can get up to 28,000 PLN. What are the requirements to receive this money? Who is eligible for funding? You'll find answers to these questions below.

Who can get a subsidy and for what?

In the current, sixth edition of the My Electricity program, you can receive funding for the installation of photovoltaic (PV) micro-installations with heat or energy storage. Only individuals are eligible to apply for the grants – the program is not intended for companies or institutions. Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Generation of energy for one's own needs. This applies to owners or co-owners of properties where a photovoltaic micro-installation is installed.
  • A signed agreement with the distribution network operator. The applicant must enter into an agreement with the power company that regulates the introduction of electricity generated in the micro-installation into the grid.
  • Net billing. This means that excess energy produced is sold to the grid rather than deducted from consumption.

Importantly, subsidies can only be received by prosumers (both producers and consumers of electricity) who incurred expenses on their photovoltaic installations after January 1, 2021.

Applications for the program are accepted by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW).

What is the maximum support?

The program provides support in the form of a grant covering a maximum of 50% of the investment cost. This means that half or more of the project costs must be covered out of pocket.

To receive funding for a photovoltaic installation reported for connection to the grid after August 1, 2024 , you must also invest in an energy storage or heat storage facility.

In the current edition of the My Electricity program, for a photovoltaic micro-installation you can receive:

  • up to PLN 7,000 – if the investment also includes an energy storage facility and/or a heat storage facility,
  • up to PLN 6,000 – if the investment does not include storage facilities (only for installations reported for connection by July 31, 2024).

The amount of subsidy for energy storage is:

  • up to PLN 5,000 – for thermal energy storage (minimum capacity: 20 dm3),
  • up to PLN 16,000 – for electricity storage (minimum capacity: 2 kWh).

This means that in the case of both groups, you can receive a maximum of PLN 28,000 in total (PLN 7,000 + PLN 5,000 + PLN 16,000).

Until when can applications be submitted?

As a reminder, the sixth edition of the program launched almost a year ago – on September 2, 2024 – and was scheduled to run until December 20, 2024, or until the budget was exhausted. For the first two weeks, those interested in receiving grants bombarded the program organizer with a flood of applications. Over time, however, the pace of applications slowed. As a result, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management increased the program's budget from PLN 400 million to a whopping PLN 1.25 billion. In early March of this year, it added an additional PLN 600 million, bringing the program's current budget to PLN 1.85 billion.

The application deadline for the sixth edition was extended several times. In mid-July, the program organizer announced that applications for grants would be accepted until October 31st or until the program's budget is exhausted.

Where can you submit an application?

Applications for subsidies must be submitted electronically via the generator available on the mojprad.gov.pl website. To log in to the system, you will need a trusted profile or e-ID. Several documents must be attached to the application: a copy of the invoice for the delivery and installation of the photovoltaic system with the appropriate annotation, proof of payment (or a statement of cash payment), and a certificate from the Distribution Network Operator confirming the meter installation, including the Power Consumption Point number.
