Virginia Giuffre's memoir 'Ruthless' to be released in October

The publication of Virginia Giuffre's memoirs, scheduled for October, is likely to once again spark interest in the figure of Britain's Prince Andrew.

Penguin described Nobody's Girl as “a stunning memoir by the late Virginia Roberts Giuffre, the woman who took on Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.”

Ms Giuffre, who died in Western Australia in April aged 42, was one of the leading accusers of convicted sex offenders Epstein and his former accomplice Maxwell.

An American by birth who spent several years living in Australia, she became an advocate for victims of sexual abuse, playing a key role in the long-running expose of the discredited paedophile financier Epstein.

Her public appearances followed an initial investigation that ended with Epstein serving 18 months in prison in Florida, where he entered into a secret agreement and was released in 2009.

Later, in August 2019, Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan federal jail cell where he was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

In court documents, Ms. Giuffre said she worked as a teenager at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's Palm Beach resort, where Maxwell approached her in 2000.

She was hired as Epstein's masseuse and then, at his direction, traveled the world to meet men as young as 17 and 18 years old.

Andrew paid millions to settle a civil sexual assault lawsuit, denying ever knowing Ms. Giuffre.

She accused him of alleged sexual abuse after Epstein forced her into slavery.

Giuffre claimed that she had been “sold” to the Duke, which he categorically denied.

The book, scheduled for release on October 21, says in its blurb: “Here Giuffre presents an uncompromising and exhaustive account of her years with Epstein and Maxwell, who trafficked her and others to powerful men.

She also details the abuse she endured as a teenager, as well as her daring escape from Epstein and Maxwell at age 19. In starting a new life, Giuffre found the strength not only to seek justice for herself, but also to advocate for other victims.

“The pages of Nobody's Girl will preserve her voice and legacy forever.”

This follows the release by the US Department of Justice on Friday of transcripts in which Maxwell insists that she did not introduce Andrew to Epstein and that the Duke's alleged sexual encounter with Ms Giuffre at her home was impossible.

In June 2022, the federal court for the Southern District of New York sentenced Maxwell to 20 years in prison.

The Trump administration has released hundreds of pages of interviews conducted by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche after facing criticism for its initial refusal to release the Epstein case file.

The Duke continues to categorically deny all accusations.

Andrew left public life in Britain amid a scandal over his contacts with a paedophile financier.

Ms. Giuffre is survived by three children.
