Poland and the Baltic countries submitted an application for the AI Gigafactory program, the EC received a total of 76 applications – informed the Digital Poland Project Center.
“76 applications covering 60 locations in 16 Member States – this is how many applications were received as part of the European Commission's call for initial expressions of interest in building AI Gigafactories, which ended on June 20. Poland also submitted an application in partnership with the Baltic states,” the press release reads.
CPPC said interest had far exceeded initial expectations, given that there are plans to build 4-5 such Gigafactories across the EU.
“Determinations are currently underway regarding the origin and size of the budget for the recruitment for the construction of such factories, planned for the end of the year. Part of the funds will come from the Digital Europe program,” it was written. (PAP Biznes)
