Salford Red Devils have cancelled their final Super League match against Wakefield Trinity due to “serious concerns over player welfare” but are confident they have the squad to prepare for Friday's clash with Leigh Leopards.

The sanctions imposed on Salford for failing to meet the match requirements (a standard 48-0 defeat is expected) will be announced by the Rugby League on Tuesday.
The club, which has been in serious financial trouble since its acquisition at the start of the season, was always confident it could bounce back against Lee.

A Salford statement said: “We can confirm that this Friday's Betfred Super League match between Leigh Leopards and Salford Red Devils will go ahead as scheduled.
“With some of the first team players recovering from injuries this week and others with Super League experience joining the squad on loan, this Friday's match will go ahead as planned.”
