Justin Rose had a stunning finish to the FedEx St Jude Championship, making six birdies in the final eight holes to secure a playoff victory over US Open champion JJ Spawn.
At 45, the Englishman became the oldest European to win on the PGA Tour in the modern era and was left at a disadvantage after a 12th hole bogey that dropped him to 12 points, two behind last week's leader Tommy Fleetwood, world number one Scotty Scheffler and Spawn, who are ahead of him.
However, four birdies on the 14th putt lifted him to the top of the standings, and on the last he fell 13 feet short of winning, finishing 16 behind Spawn, who made just one birdie.

The Englishman seemed perfectly positioned to end his long wait for a Tour title when he made three birdies in four holes on the back nine to take a two-shot lead with three holes remaining.
However, a par-god-par finish cost him the lead as Rose and Spawn took advantage of it to pass him at the top.
In the deciding battle, Rose made two more birdies in three holes – one of which was decisive after a long shot by Spawn, and the second from 14 feet, when Spawn was half that distance away, proved critical, and his opponent's attempt to extend the battle was successful.
Justin Rose made four straight birdies to force a playoff with JJ Spawn at the St. Jude Championship.
Rose 'never lost faith'
“It was an amazing last 90 minutes. I never lost faith,” Rose said in a post-round interview.
“I played golf really well and I really enjoyed it. When I give it my all, I know I'm good enough to compete with the best players in the world.
“Everyone calls me meticulous, punctual, prepared, but I always knew it was inside me. I get nervous like anyone else, but when it comes to the big stuff, I still get it done.”
