The first of the additional prizes in our “Vacation on the Stock Exchange” competition was won by the leader of the ETF ranking after the third week of competition, who multiplied his initial virtual PLN 10,000 to over PLN 20,000. Find out what prize is up for grabs this week.
The first results of the competition Bankier.pl organized for the summer holidays in cooperation with the Warsaw Stock Exchange have been announced. The prize, an electric scooter sponsored by Beta ETF, will go to player Mekambe, who achieved the top spot in the additional ETF ranking after Friday's final session – at the end of the third week of competition – based on the value of ETFs held in a virtual account, which can be invested in on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

At the end of the day on Friday, the aforementioned participant held PLN 20,076 worth of ETFs in his account. These were ETFs targeting the American S&P 500 index. He invested in them during Friday's session, having previously grown his capital on shares of companies such as Rank Progress, Molecure, CI Games, Medicalgorithmics, and Bumech. Mekambe significantly outperformed the next entrants in the ETF ranking; the second-placed player had accumulated approximately PLN 13,600, a gain of just over 36% since the competition began.

Access to the podium thanks to 100% profit
Mekambe's three-week profit so far is an impressive 102.7%! However, there was one player who fared even better. Player Pitero had PLN 22,530 in his account after Friday's session, with a return of 125.3%! Mariopisz1973 rounded out the top three with a portfolio result of PLN 20,094 and a return of nearly 101%.
To make it into the top ten of the Wakacje na Giedzie ranking, you've had to earn at least 48% of your earnings so far. This is more than the leader of the entire competition had a week ago – it was just over 40%. It's also worth noting that of last week's top ten, only the aforementioned Mekambe remains, having finished just off the podium last Friday. The remaining nine participants are new faces.

Bumech is the hit of the week. Another golden shot.
How did such a dramatic shakeup in the rankings occur, and what accounted for the leaders' high rates of return? Let's start with the fact that the market wasn't kind to investors this time around – both the WIG and WIG20 lost 2.6% each during the week. The market deteriorated towards the end of the week, and signals for a sell-off came from overseas. Therefore, betting on the broad market would be difficult to make a profit this time.
In competitive competition, a “silver bullet” often offers a chance for big profits, and last week, Bumech's shares (in the sWIG80 index) proved particularly promising. They first surged 33.8% on Thursday, then 32.9% on Friday – a total of 77.4% for the entire week. The company's stock price, previously associated with the mining industry, skyrocketed following Thursday's announcement of the signing of a letter of intent with OTT Technologies to launch the production of armored vehicles for uniformed services in Poland. This suddenly catapulted the company's share price to its highest level in over a decade, and many investors enjoyed huge profits. This included, without exception, all of the Top 10 players in our main ranking.
What's the prize this week?
However, it's not Bumech shares, nor Molecure, which was in high demand last week, that are the focus of most of the nearly 4,700 participants in the stock market vacation. Statistics show that XTB remains the most frequently traded company, ahead of Orlen and Grupa Azoty. CD Projekt, Pepco, KGHM, and Rainbow also occupy the top spots.
There are still four weeks left in the competition (ending on August 28th), and the main prizes are PLN 30,000 in cash, including PLN 15,000 for the winner. There are also additional prizes up for grabs. At the end of this week, it's time for a “flying bonus” with Hyundai – participants who finish in the top three places in the main ranking at the end of Friday's session will receive a week-long rental of a Hyundai Kona EV electric car.
