Manchester City have reached an agreement with Rosenborg for €14m (£12.5m) for youngster Sverre Nypan, according to the PA news agency.
The arrival of the 18-year-old midfielder continues a busy summer at the Etihad Stadium, where Rayan Ait Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Tijani Reynders and Marcus Bettinelli have already been signed.
Personal terms are still to be agreed and it is expected that if the deal is completed, Nipan will be sent out on loan to gain playing experience.
Nypan made his debut for Rosenborg's main team at the age of 15 and represents Norway's U21 national team.
