Jack Grealish left out of Manchester City squad for Club World Cup

Jack Grealish has been left out of Manchester City's squad for the Club World Cup.

The England international was not included in the 27-man list released by the Premier League club on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old's absence was predictable and will raise further questions about his future at the Etihad Stadium.

The midfielder, who signed from Aston Villa four years ago for £100million, has lost his position at City after making a significant contribution to their treble success in 2023.

He has started just seven Premier League games in the 2024-25 season and, most notably, was not called up as a substitute when City suffered a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final last month.

He was then left out of the squad for the final Premier League match of the season against Fulham.

With City continuing to revamp their squad, signing four new players this week, there is growing speculation that Grealish could leave the club, with his name being linked with a number of teams both in England and Europe.

As expected, Kevin De Bruyne will also not take part in the tournament in the USA this summer.

The Belgian playmaker will leave City this summer but will still be able to play until his contract expires on June 30.

The 33-year-old looks set to sign for Serie A champions Napoli when he officially becomes a free agent.

Newcomers Ryan Ait-Nouri, Ryan Cherki, Tijani Reynders and Marcus Bettinelli have been named in Pep Guardiola's squad, which could have included up to 35 names.
