Kermit the Frog Tells Maryland Graduates: Jump Together

Kermit the Frog understands that being “green” or completing college and entering adulthood is difficult, especially in times of economic uncertainty and political crises.

The University of Maryland's Class of 2025 received their diplomas Thursday night, listening to some sage advice from the famous Muppet.

“As you prepare to take that big step into real life, here's a little advice for you – if you're willing to listen to the frog,” said the beloved Muppet.

“Instead of jumping over someone to get what you want, consider reaching out and taking the leap together, because life is brighter when we leap side by side.”

In March, the university announced that Kermit, created in 1955 and an icon of the Muppet franchise, would be this year's commencement speaker. This is also not the first time he has addressed the university's students.

Muppet creator Jim Henson graduated from Maryland in 1960.
