– We have ready solutions, we have experience, but above all we have the trust of millions of users in Europe and we are working on this together. Digital sovereignty of Europe is no longer just a slogan from a manifesto. This is our action plan for today. Together with payment operators from Western and Northern Europe , we are currently creating a common European system for transfers to phones . The good news is that we are not starting from scratch – announced Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, CEO of Blik during the second day of the Impact conference in Poznań.

The CEO noted that Blik is currently the most frequently used transaction in Europe, with almost 2.5 billion transactions last year. “We have vast experience in local markets, but now it is time to jointly raise these iron curtains in the world of payments,” Mazurkiewicz emphasized.

450 million Europeans are waiting for this simplicity. Today, a phone call is enough to drop in for a pizza in Rome or a croissant in Paris. But it is not enough to split a restaurant bill in an international group . We still cannot spontaneously transfer a few euros to an artist in Barcelona or send a tip for a lemonade on the beach. As we travel, we are opening up to the world more and more, but we can only make transfers to our phones within our national, local solutions – said Mazurkiewicz.

At this time, the head of Blik has not revealed any details , including whether Blik will become the main payment system or what the integration process with other European platforms enabling transfers to phones will look like.
