Christian Eriksen believes Manchester United's lack of technical sharpness was the main factor in Sunday's defeat to Wolves, rather than the effects of the Europa League fixtures.
Ruben Amorim's Red Devils returned to action just 63 hours after a thrilling 5-4 extra-time quarter-final win over Lyon.
United made five changes after that emotionally and physically taxing Europa League encounter as Amorim admitted preparations for the semi-final against Athletic Bilbao took priority over Premier League matters.
The Portuguese side did well but substitute Pablo Sarabia converted a free-kick to give Wolves a 1-0 win at Old Trafford, something Eriksen put down to a lack of instinct rather than fatigue from Thursday.
“I think it was pretty easy to take,” the veteran midfielder said. “I think we made a lot of changes to the team from Thursday… we had our chances (on Sunday).
“It doesn't matter whether we played on Thursday or not, I'm sure we had enough strength to win and in the end it was just small details. We weren't good enough in the final stages.
“That's football, in a nutshell. Sometimes, even if you play well and don't score, the other team always has a chance to get ahead and win. Unfortunately, they did.”
