Morgan Rodgers insists he can be even better as he aims to lead Aston Villa to success this season.
Rodgers scored his 13th goal of the season on Saturday as Villa secured a vital 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest, a significant step in their bid to qualify for the Champions League.
The 22-year-old, who also provided eight assists, has enjoyed a breakthrough season having made his England debut before Christmas.
However, he stresses that this is just the beginning.
“I'm focused and just want to keep improving and not let outside factors affect my feelings, my training and my performances, and my attitude,” he said on Villa's official website.
“I just want to continue to grow and develop. It's nice that my family is proud of me, and those are really happy moments.
“I strive to continually improve and I want to continue to shine, and that’s what I’m going to strive for.”
Villa have won seven games in a row and remain the only club in England to be fighting on three fronts.
They face Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday and face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final at the end of the month.
The win over Forest also moved them a significant step closer to qualifying for next season's Champions League.
“We knew we had to win if we were going to challenge for a Champions League place, which has been our target since the start of the season,” Rodgers added.
“We were playing against a strong team in good form and we knew it would be tough, but we started the game fantastically, scoring two goals. That calmed us down and allowed us to play better.”
Forest also have Champions League ambitions but they lost strikers Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi to injury, while Anthony Elanga was substituted at half-time at Villa Park.
Awoniyi's absence came as a surprise after Nuno Espirito Santo revealed he had picked up an injury in the midweek game against Manchester United.
