Comey, now 57, all tense confrontation during his exclusive interview with chief anchor of ABC news George Stephanopoulos, remembering how he convinced this man to put his brother in the bathroom trying to stay away from sin.
Terrible episode left the roots so shaken that till this day, he told Stephanopoulos, he always “had some sort of weapon at hand next,” and weapons for many years was a butcher knife.
“I thought about the rapist Ramsey every night, I don’t mean most nights I mean every night for at least five years,” Komi said Stephanopoulos.

Drama unfolded back in October of 1977, “at the same time that” son of Sam ” David Berkowitz, terrorized new York that summer of 77 was known as the time Ramsey a rapist,” Komi said Stephanopoulos criminal who was given a nickname based on the new Jersey town that he was targeting.
“It was a Friday night. And … I was a nerd, so I was at home works for the literary magazine. I wrote about pressure from peers. And I was in my room when the gunman kicked in the front door of the house. And the next hour was a terrible and life-changing,” said Komi.

A retelling of the story of his run – in with a bandit whom the Komi believed, was the so-called Ramsey rapist – came when Komi met with Stephanopoulos in his childhood home as part of his interview about his new book, “High fidelity: truth, lies and leadership”, which goes on sale April 17.
“It was such a busy period, here boy Scouts in fact had a service where if you were Babysitting, they will call you every half hour because of fear of the Ramsey rapist, because there have been so many attacks in this area,” Komi said tension in 1977.
Police later reported Komei they believed his family home was targeted because the suspect had seen a man, lying down to watch TV in the basement. What the suspect didn’t know he was the younger brother of Komi, Peter, who was watching the TV and not his older sister, who was visiting to a break from College but was not at home that night.
Roots Stephanopoulos said he was upstairs when the suspect broke into the house and grabbed Peter, eventually bringing it up to his parents ‘ bedroom, which was next to his.
“As I walked in, I looked to my right and there was a guy with a gun and dressed in a woolen ski hat,” he said, adding that he momentarily lost vision to restore it to find his brother, who pinned him to the ground.
“He jumped at Peter, put his right knee in the middle of the back, and stuck the gun with his left hand in his ear and turned to me and said, ‘You move, baby and I’ll blow his head off.’ And I didn’t move,” said Komi.
“I don’t know. But in my head, I knew he was going to shoot us. And he faced two guys, he didn’t expect to encounter. .. I was a senior in high school, 5’10”, healthy boy,” – he added. “And I thought that he was going to kill us. And that’s the moment that changed my life and my Outlook on life.
“At first I panicked and began to pray. And then a strange wave of cold washed over me. I don’t know how to explain it-I felt almost like a stone, and began to think, ‘if he shoots Pete-first, I’m getting out of bed and grab it,’” Komi explained. “And then I began to speak, instinctively, just saying, and lying about how much we hated our parents. We don’t care what he did in the house. We don’t care what he took. We haven’t even told them that he was there. Our parents are horrible’. And I just kept going on and on”.
The suspect forced the children to guess where he could find money in the house, going on an impromptu tour of the house. At one point, said Komei suspect
“I drank the milk from the fridge.”
Komi convinced the man to lock him and his brother in the bathroom on the ground floor, lying that it was sealed when, in fact, they could escape through the window. The suspect quickly check the window and could not open it himself, so he decided to lock the boys in the bathroom as he made his exit.
“He said ‘tell your mom and dad you’ve been good to little boys, then he pushed her into the bathroom and climbed into the chair opposite. And so
I thought we were done here. My plan was to stay in the bathroom all night,” said Komi.
His brother had other plans, though, arguing that they should go to warn someone that they believed the rapist Ramsey was on the hunt. Peter, who is two years younger, climbed first out of the window, with the following Komi, Komi recalled.
The gunman noticed the boys after they tried to escape, grabbing Peter, and then forcing the roots against the fence, said Komi Republic. However, the Siberian husky neighbor intervened, warning the owner of the dog.
A neighbor, a local football coach, and collided with the bandit too, said Komi Republic.
“It gets chaotic,” Komi said, likening the scene to one of them, written by “the script”.
The gunman heard the coach’s wife yelling at him and the gunman took off in the direction of the wife of coach and mother. In Komi boys and the coach ran to the house of Komi about to call the police.
The bandit tried unsuccessfully to attract women in the Komi house, in the end, said Komi Republic. He then forced the women in the coach house.

The police arrived a short time later and the gunman ran out of the house of the coach and disappeared into the surrounding forest.
The search for the suspect continued, and the suspect was arrested a few days earlier, but was never convicted. He never determined if the person actually was a rapist Ramsey.
But Komi said that while “there has never been resolution of the case,” a positive result was that “the night the rapist attacks the Ramsey’s stopped.”
He said that the experience left a lasting impression of how terrified he felt right after and how he approaches life.
Roots said that within a year after the attack, he held the knife in between the mattress and the box spring with the handle out.
“I have always, since then, was some kind of weapon at hand nearby,” said Komi.
He said his brush with a gun prompted him to use every opportunity in life, joking, as his children know that he is “the sunset guy” because he
“always make them get in the car and watch the sunset, because this could be your last day.”
“All the things that annoy us in our lives is not so important, when you have seen the end of his life and understand how short and precious life is,” said Komi.
