Three Dead in Ukraine as Russia Continues Drone Offensive

Russian forces fired drones and other weapons into Ukrainian territory on Thursday, killing three people and wounding dozens, officials said, despite international pressure for a ceasefire.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched a barrage of 63 drones and decoys into Ukraine overnight. Air defense systems reportedly destroyed 28 drones and suppressed another 21.

Ukrainian police said two people had been killed and six wounded in the past 24 hours in the eastern Donetsk region where the Russian offensive continues.

In the southern part of the Kherson region, partially occupied by Russian troops, one person was killed and 14 were injured.

The head of the Kharkiv region, Oleg Sinegubov, reported that 15 people, including four children, were injured as a result of attacks by Russian drones.

Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov said that Russian drones struck residential areas, educational institutions, kindergartens and other civilian infrastructure.

“Kharkov will survive. People are alive. And that is the most important thing,” Mr. Terekhov noted.

In recent days, the Russian military has launched waves of drones and missiles, with a record barrage of nearly 500 drones on Monday and an attack using 315 drones and seven missiles on Tuesday night.

The recent escalation of air attacks coincided with a renewed Russian offensive along the eastern and northeastern portions of the 600-mile front line.

While Russian missiles and drones strike various regions of Ukraine, areas along the front lines are being attacked daily by short-range drones and glide bombs.

Ukraine responded with drone strikes: Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defense systems shot down 52 Ukrainian drones on Thursday morning, including 41 over the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine.
