The AFGSC web resource reported that the launch of a rocket without a warhead took place on May 20 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time from the US Space Force Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
It is noted that the test was planned “many years ago and is not a reaction to world events.”

“Our ability to conduct these rigorous and realistic tests is the foundation of our national security,” said AFGSC Commander Gen. Lex Scott Davis.
According to him, the launch confirmed the readiness of the US intercontinental ballistic missile forces and the serviceability of all components of the system.
During the test, specialists tracked the missile's flight path to assess the operation of the engines, guidance systems, and atmospheric entry system under extreme load conditions.

The Air Force also noted that the United States is in the process of replacing its Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles with the new LGM-35A Sentinel system. Until this process is completed, the Minuteman III will remain on combat duty.
