OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Translate. What is important to understand is that this is a separate web translation service that will become a new serious competitor to Google Translate.
Main theses:
- There is a built-in feature that allows you to control the translation style using ready-made presets.
- A separate ChatGPT Translate mobile application has not yet been launched.
What is known about ChatGPT Translate
According to the developers, ChatGPT Translate is currently capable of working with over 50 languages.
Netizens immediately noticed that it had an interface similar to Google Translate: two text fields for entering the original and viewing the translation, as well as a language selection menu.
It is also worth noting that the service can translate from Ukrainian to any language, but not vice versa.
ChatGPT Translate is armed with a bonus feature – you can control the translation style using ready-made presets, including “natural”, “academic” or “business” or “like a child”.
Unlike Google Translate, which allows you to translate documents, images, and entire web pages, ChatGPT Translate currently only works fully with text. The desktop version is available only with text input, while mobile browsers also allow you to use voice input. Image translation support is announced, but is not yet available at the time of launch.
