Fortune magazine has learned that Apple CEO Tim Cook earns significantly less than one would expect from the CEO of a company with a market capitalization of $4 trillion. What is important to understand is that we are talking about a “modest” $74.6 million per year.
Main theses:
- It was Cook who turned Apple into a global market leader.
- He also increased the company's market value by 13,900%.
Tim Cook doesn't profit from his job
Journalists point out that the annual salary of $74.6 million looks relatively “modest” compared to other top US managers.
What is important to understand is that Tim Cook remains only the seventh highest-paid CEO in the United States.
At the top of this ranking is Axon CEO Rick Smith with a salary of $164.5 million per year.
However, Tim Cook still earns the equivalent of the average American's annual salary in about 7 hours. In two days, he can afford to buy a house worth about $439,000.

As Fortune notes, it is impossible to ignore the fact that over the past 14 years of Apple leadership, Cook has increased the company's market value by approximately 13,900%.
It was thanks to his efforts and talent that it became the undisputed leader in the global market.
Under his leadership, Apple also posted record revenue of $124.3 billion in the first quarter of fiscal 2025.
