According to Bloomberg, such a large reduction in the Microsoft team is caused by changes related to the boom in artificial intelligence. The company uses it intensively in its work, investing huge funds in its development. In the near future, it intends to allocate 80 billion dollars for this purpose.

After the layoffs announced in May, Microsoft employs about 228,000 people worldwide, most of whom work in the United States.

Not just Microsoft

At the end of April, Intel also announced job cuts, deciding to reduce its workforce by 20 percent, or about 21,000 people. In this way, the US chip manufacturer wants to simplify its structure and adapt to new challenges that appear in the global economy.

This year, Meta, the owner of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, also announced that it would lay off 5 percent of its employees, or 3.6 thousand people. It decided to part ways especially with the least effective employees.
