Wrexham set to break club transfer record for Nathan Broadhead – reports

Wrexham are set to set a new transfer record with a deal worth up to £10million for Ipswich striker Nathan Broadhead, according to reports.

The Red Dragons have been monitoring the 27-year-old Wales international for several weeks and are reportedly close to completing a deal after Ipswich signed Chuba Akpom from Ajax.

Broadhead is in the final year of his contract at Ipswich, having joined from Everton in January 2023 on a three-and-a-half-year deal for £1.5m.

Born in Bangor, Broadhead came through Wrexham's youth system before joining Everton aged 10.

Since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the club in 2021, Wrexham have set new transfer records on several occasions.

Lewis O'Brien signed for Nottingham Forest last month for £3million. The midfielder is one of several Sky Bet Championship newcomers in whom Wrexham have invested heavily ahead of their first season in English football's second tier in 43 years.

Broadhead will become Wrexham's ninth signing since they were relegated from League One last season.

He has made 14 appearances for Wales, scoring two goals, and will join compatriots Danny Ward and Kieffer Moore at SToK Cae Ras.
