Luke Littler earned the right to pride himself after overtaking rival Luke Humphries to top the Premier League table.
World champion Littler defeated the world number one in the first quarter-final of the sixth round in Nottingham.
Littler produced a remarkable performance to take a 164-run lead to level the score at 4-4, just minutes after Humphreys had missed an opportunity to take a 4-2 lead.
It was another example of a young player changing the course of a match in an instant, and Humphreys was ready to take advantage of any mistake Littler made.
The win takes Littler into the semi-finals where he will face either Rob Cross or Chris Dobie as he looks to make it two wins in a row following his triumph in Brighton last week.
The 18-year-old said he is currently playing the best darts of his fledgling career and also won the Belgian Open title over the weekend.
