The famous Manchester City and Norway forward Erling Haaland, who recently secretly became a father, bought the most expensive book in his country's history, NRK reports.

According to the portal, back in December last year, the footballer, together with his father Alf-Inge (by the way, a former Manchester City player), purchased a rare edition of Snorre Sturlason's “Royal Sagas” from 1594, paying 1.3 million Norwegian kroner (about 135 thousand dollars) for the unique book. But now the Dutch have donated the “sagas” to their native municipality of Time.

“I’ve never been a big reader, but I want the book to always be open so you can read about those from my region,” said Erling Haaland, Norway’s all-time leading scorer. “I’m living my dream, but unfortunately it’s only accessible to a few. I’ve seen books give many more people the opportunity to dream and make their dreams come true.”

It should be noted that the “Royal Sagas” are a historical chronicle of the Norwegian kings from the most ancient times (mythical) to 1177. In the book you can read about the unification of Norway, the Viking campaigns, the adoption of Christianity, and the lives of the rulers, which is of great national value for the country's inhabitants.
Holland reportedly donated the book to his municipality on the condition that it be displayed and made available to visitors at the library in his hometown.
Previously, “FACTS” reported that the Champions League winner spent millions on his native village and built a modern stadium there.
