Arsenal will fight to the death for Premier League title – Martin Odegaard

Martin Odegaard has assured that Arsenal will fight until the very end, but noted that his team is in a difficult situation and will not be able to prevent Liverpool from winning the Premier League title.

The Gunners are 16 points behind Liverpool, who beat bottom side Southampton on Saturday, ahead of a trip to Manchester United on Sunday.

Arsenal's visit to Old Trafford is the first of 11 remaining league games and Arsenal's chances of catching the Reds are slim.

Under Mikel Arteta, the team topped the league for the last two seasons before losing top spot to Manchester City and finishing second.

Captain Odegaard, commenting on the upcoming match on Sunday, said: “We will fight until the end. That is the attitude of all of us.”

“We were fighting for the title three years in a row, and if you look back a couple of years ago we had a significant lead and then came second.

“It proves that anything is possible and the main thing is to keep moving forward, work hard and improve every game and then we'll see.”

“We are in a difficult situation at the moment, but we need to keep playing, try to win every game and then we will see what happens with Liverpool.”

Arsenal head to Old Trafford on a two-game clean sheet against West Ham and Nottingham Forest in the league.

However, they will be re-energised by a record 7-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie, which puts them firmly in the quarter-finals.

The Gunners will also be looking to avenge their FA Cup third round defeat to Manchester United when they meet on Sunday.

Arsenal will go into the match as favourites after a difficult season for United, who sit 14th in the table, 21 points behind the Gunners.

But Odegaard, who scored twice again in the Netherlands on Tuesday, added: “They are always difficult to play against.
