As of Friday, there have been no verified hantavirus incidents among U.S. travelers on the M/V Hondius, though several state health representatives mentioned they are tracking their inhabitants who had contact with individuals who became infected. The cruise company states that there are 17 American citizens onboard.
Nebraska Medicine and the University of Nebraska Medical Center administer the National Quarantine Unit, which is the sole federally supported quarantine unit in the nation.
It was inaugurated in November 2019, merely months prior to the COVID-19 worldwide crisis, and the center’s functions were designed to manage highly transmissible epidemics.

Lowe reported to journalists that if the 17 travelers continue to exhibit no symptoms prior to their arrival, they will not need EMS transportation.

The health institution also hosts the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit, which is structured to attend to individuals afflicted with "high-consequence contagious illnesses."
