Why our words can carry much more weight for others than we think 2

One frosty night, a poor man knocked on the door of a large, beautiful villa, Ukr.Media reports.

A wealthy owner in a luxurious blue robe opened the door and asked the beggar what he wanted…

“This night is particularly cold. Could you give me some of your warm clothes that you no longer use? You are well-off, and I am sure my request will not be a burden to you,” the poor man asked.

The owner thought for a moment and replied:

“Okay. I'll get you something now.”

The comforted tramp sat down on the porch steps with hope.

The man went into the house to get some warm clothes. At that moment the phone rang: he was distracted by the conversation and completely forgot about the beggar.

In the morning, when he left home for work, he saw that the poor man had frozen to death nearby. Approaching the body, the rich man noticed a letter in his hands.

He took it and read:

“As long as I didn't have warm clothes, I had the strength to resist the cold. Because I was used to it. But when one person promised me warm clothes, I became attached to her promise. I believed her, and that's what took away my strength.”

Never promise something you can't keep. It may mean nothing to you, but for someone else, your words could mean their whole life.

We have something to think about, friends. How many people suffer — both deeply in their souls and physically — because we don't keep our word. After all, our promises mean much more to them than they do to us!
