New York City is anticipating a new leading federal prosecutor, following President Donald Trump’s declaration on Saturday that he intends to propose former prosecutor and commodities regulator James McDonald for the role of the subsequent United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
This declaration on social media follows Trump’s selection of the current SDNY U.S. Attorney, Jay Clayton, to assume the position of the next Director of National Intelligence, after his temporary choice obstructed the renewal of a critical surveillance statute.
McDonald, an experienced litigator associated with the law firm Sullivan and Cromwell, was among the legal representatives who defended Trump in his criminal appeal.
