Swedish Premier Ulf Kristersson stated that globally, there’s a need to amplify the strain on Russian leader Vladimir Putin to cease the conflict in Ukraine. This remark was made during a joint press briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Standing beside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Kristersson conveyed that Sweden is “completely unified and stands with you and the Ukrainian nation.” He highlighted that the present meeting with Zelensky in Sweden, coupled with tomorrow’s European Council gathering in Brussels, “attests to the strength of collaboration between Ukraine and Sweden.”
As a point to remember, Ukraine has finalized a deal with Sweden regarding the prospective acquisition of 100-150 advanced JAS 39 Gripen E combat planes. In President Volodymyr Zelensky’s view, the upcoming year should mark the commencement of Ukraine’s operation of these jets. He further mentioned that the intention is to acquire at least 100 fighter aircraft.
