As the most recent cessation of federal government activities continues into its second day, U.S. citizens are expressing their displeasure towards Capitol Hill amidst the disorder, with Trump and the GOP receiving a larger share of the criticism, according to a freshly released survey.
Approximately 47% of U.S. individuals attribute the blame for the shutdown to President Donald Trump and the Republican Party, as shown in a Washington Post survey made available on Thursday.
Those surveyed conveyed that the president and his party were culpable for the standstill due to their unwillingness to find common ground, despite holding complete sway over Congress, along with Trump’s individual decisions.

The poll, which was implemented on Wednesday, revealed that 30% of Americans held Democrats liable for the shutdown, while 23% expressed uncertainty regarding who bore the responsibility.
Individuals who placed blame on the Democratic Party reproached them for rejecting compromise efforts or claimed that they invariably stand in opposition to Trump, as per the Post.
Certain respondents echoed unsubstantiated assertions propagated by Trump and Republicans, alleging that Democrats are lobbying for healthcare provision for immigrants without proper documentation.
A majority of U.S. adults, amounting to 66%, expressed significant or moderate apprehension concerning the shutdown, as determined by the Post’s findings.
The survey indicated that 80% of Democrats and 70% of independents voiced concerns about the shutdown. In comparison, below half of Republicans displayed concern, according to the survey.

Regarding the impasses that precipitated the shutdown, the poll deduced that 47% of Americans advocate for both the prolongation of healthcare enhancements and for Democrats to insist upon it.
The Post consulted 1,010 individuals, yielding a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percentage points.
The outcomes of this poll diverged to some extent from a separate one conducted prior to the commencement of the shutdown.
A New York Times/Siena College survey, made public on Tuesday, determined that roughly one-third of registered voters would apportion blame equally between both parties in the event of a government shutdown.
The survey, encompassing 1,313 voters between Sept. 22 and Sept. 29, ascertained that 26% of voters assigned responsibility to Trump and Republicans, whereas 19% held Democrats accountable.
The poll had a margin of error of +/- 3.2 percentage points.
