Excessive training can be harmful to your health.

People who devote more than 14 hours a week to physical exercise risk developing problems with the functioning of many organs and systems of the body.

Scientists from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland conducted a study involving more than 1,200 young people aged 16 to 20. The experts asked all the volunteers about their exercise regimen over the past two years.

The survey results showed that moderate exercise intensity significantly improved mood and self-esteem. However, when people engaged in excessive physical activity, their workouts often resulted in strains, injuries, and even inflammation.

To ensure the study was as objective as possible, the scientists used the WHO system, which assigns each type of physical activity a rating out of 25. A physical activity rating of 17 is considered normal for a healthy person.

The experiment participants were divided into groups with different amounts of strength training. According to the survey results, a third of the volunteers exercised very little, 40% devoted less than 10 hours a week to fitness, 18% spent less than 17 hours on exercise, and 5% exceeded this amount. It turned out that those who devoted excessive attention to exercise most often scored below 13. In other words, their efforts were ineffective and could even lead to health problems.
