How to find a “money corner” in your own home, what to fill it with, and what this practice gives

The desire to live in a harmonious, prosperous home is quite natural for many of us, Ukr.Media reports.

Different cultures have ways to attract prosperity to one's home, and one such practice is to create a so-called “wealth corner.” This concept combines elements of Ukrainian traditions, Eastern philosophy, and even modern psychology.

How the tradition of the “corner of wealth” arose

The idea of a separate “wealth zone” is one of the key concepts in feng shui, the ancient Chinese art of harmonizing space. According to the popular Western interpretation of feng shui (the so-called BTB school), the wealth zone is located in the far corner of a room or apartment, if you face the house from the threshold. Usually, this is the far left corner from the entrance, depending on the system.

The main idea of such a zone is to “accumulate” the energy of prosperity in the house, which in feng shui is called “qi” (life force, flow of vital energy). It is believed that the organization of this place, its cleanliness and content should contribute to the well-being of the residents, the retention and attraction of financial opportunities.

Ukrainian customs also contain interesting tips for prosperity: horseshoes by the threshold, grain scattered in the corner, and special towels or objects on the porch. At the heart of these practices is the belief in symbolic objects that can bring prosperity to the family.

Why this might work

Although modern science does not confirm the literal properties of “qi energy”, it is impossible to deny that the attention and meaning we give to certain things and places have an impact on our thinking and behavior. The wealth corner gradually becomes a kind of “anchor”, which helps to remember your goals every day, focus on growth and attract new opportunities just by changing your attitude towards finances.

Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in such a place can be associated with organization in material matters, and carefully chosen symbols create a sense of personal involvement and confidence in the future. Belief in such rituals, even if they have more of a psychological than a mystical effect, helps to build new financial habits. In psychology, this is called the placebo effect: belief in the effectiveness of an action often influences a person's behavior and choices.

How to find a “money corner” and what to put in it

To determine the “wealth zone”, stand at the threshold of a room or apartment, facing the space. In Western feng shui, the money zone will be in the far left corner.

In feng shui, especially in the Western school (or the Black Hat school), the wealth area is defined as the far left corner from the entrance to a room or residence if you stand on the threshold facing inward.

It is important to note that in classical feng shui, which is based on the compass and the cardinal points, the wealth zone is usually associated with the southeast direction of the room.

When furnishing this corner, pay attention to the following details:

1. Cleanliness and order. Tidiness and the absence of broken or unnecessary things are of paramount importance. This simplicity symbolizes openness to new things and a sense of value for the space itself.

2. Symbols of prosperity. The most common items are a new, undamaged bill in a beautiful envelope (ideally red, green or gold). The envelope is not chosen by chance – in many traditions, red is considered the color of energy and good luck. Alternatives can be a small bag, a scarf or simply a favorite item that you personally associate with prosperity.

3. Plants and crystals. A living plant (e.g., a money tree) in this corner represents financial growth, and crystals represent stability and accumulation. Rock crystal, citrine, or amethyst are usually chosen.

4. Additional symbols. Often used are Chinese coins on a red ribbon, small piggy banks, images of a ship or fish, small bells (the sound of which in Eastern systems symbolizes the “activation” of favorable energy). You can also add a decorative element that has special financial significance for you.

5. Lighting. The atmosphere of this space remains bright and cozy even with the help of a table lamp or a small candle. Brightness helps not to forget about your intentions.

It is usually advised to take a moment from time to time to calmly gaze or do a little visualization near this place – imagine new opportunities coming into your life. But such actions are not a mandatory ritual – listen to your own feelings.

Personal symbols

It is equally important to make your wealth corner personal. Think about what prosperity means to you: maybe it is not money, but comfort, security, coziness or the opportunity to help others. Accordingly, your filling of the corner may vary.

How to learn to see the tool, not the magic

The money angle helps us pay attention to our current goals: by regularly remembering abundance, we are more likely to think about ways to improve our financial situation, make decisions about our budget or planning more easily, and notice interesting opportunities more quickly.

It is worth remembering: no ritual action can replace conscious work on financial habits. The practice of arranging a corner is more effective when combined with real steps – from planning expenses, budgeting and learning financial literacy, to actively seeking new ways to grow. Symbols help maintain focus, but the foundation of change is daily actions.

So, setting up a wealth corner is not a collection of magical attributes. It is a gentle practice that allows you to consciously remind yourself of the importance of openness to well-being, create a positive attitude, strengthen your faith in your own abilities, and build healthy financial habits.

What symbols will be next to you depends only on your personal meaning of the word “prosperity”. And most importantly – respect for your own aspirations, the warmth of your beloved home and the desire to take care of yourself and your loved ones. This is the real power of change for everyone.
