Polish Amusement Park Without an Occupation Permit? Prosecutor's Office Investigating Case

The largest amusement park in northern Poland, Hossoland, near Gryfice (West Pomeranian Voivodeship), has been welcoming guests for two months but still doesn't have an operating permit. This information was obtained by the portal wSzczecinie.pl. However, the dark clouds over “Energylandia Północy” don't end there.

I'm talking about the Hossoland park, which was built in Brojce, near Gryfice, in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, half an hour's drive from Kołobrzeg.

Although its managers, quoted by a local portal, assure that the attraction is safe for visitors and all installed devices have appropriate certificates, the case is being investigated by the District Prosecutor's Office in Gryfice.

The investigation concerns “causing a threat to the life and health of many people by commencing the use of part of the Hossoland Amusement Park, which is currently under construction.”

As prosecutor Krzysztof Mejna from the District Prosecutor's Office in Gryfice explained in an interview with a local portal, the investigation is being conducted based on a notification from the District Building Inspector in Gryfice.

Delayed opening, attractions closed, no discount tickets

These aren't the first problems Hossoland Amusement Park has encountered during its construction phase. Although the park was originally scheduled to be open from May to October, the amusement park's opening date was postponed until the end of June, the beginning of this year's summer holidays. As park representatives announced at the time, the later-than-planned opening was due, among other things, to testing of the attractions.

Then, after just over a month, in the middle of the so-called high season, some attractions were temporarily closed. Park representatives explained the maintenance shutdown as “force majeure.” The facilities are now operational again.

Previously, the lack of reduced-price tickets for children had sparked controversy. Only the smallest children—those under 85 cm tall, and therefore unable to use most attractions—were allowed free entry. However, the amusement park owners bowed to pressure and, even before the official opening, introduced reduced-price tickets for children, though not all children. Only those under 120 cm tall were eligible.

What is Hossoland?

Hossoland is a 40-hectare amusement park inspired by fairy tales and legends. It is divided into thematic zones: Mermaid City, the Kingdom of Baltambrya, the Land of the Vikings, and the Dragon Valley of the Mine. It is located in Brojce, West Pomerania, near the S6 expressway between Szczecin and Kołobrzeg.

Plans for the coming years include building a hotel within the park and expanding it with new attractions, similar to what Energylandia once did. The investor is announcing, among other things, a water park.
