VHI announces 3% increase in insurance plan prices from October

VHI announced an average 3% price increase for its insurance plans, effective October 1.

As the company explained, the increase in tariffs is due to two main factors: the growth in demand for medical services and the increase in the costs of providing them.

Over the past year, the volume of medical care provided in private clinics, day hospitals and outpatient centres has increased by 9%.

Vhi Insurance Dac CEO Aaron Keogh said: “Price adjustments are necessary in the context of ever-increasing demand for healthcare and rising costs. Our goal is to ensure that our clients have access to the healthcare services they need, which means we can charge fair prices.”

“We understand that health insurance is a significant expense. That's why we offer a variety of plans to suit different budgets, while keeping our basic packages affordable.

“The need for health support is expected to increase further due to Ireland's ageing population and the increasing prevalence of chronic conditions.”

The announcement comes after similar moves by competitors Laya Healthcare and Irish Life Health, which also raised the prices of their products.
