Marcus Rashford's first game for Barcelona ended after 45 minutes as his club suffered a painful loss to newcomers Levante.
The Catalan side were trailing 2-0 when the forward was substituted during the break at the Ciudad de Valencia stadium.
However, just eight minutes after the departure of the Manchester United loanee, Barça equalised through goals from Pedri and Ferran Torres, and then the comeback was completed by a winning own goal from the opponents in the final minutes – 3:2.
Early in the match, the 27-year-old Englishman created a dangerous moment after receiving a return pass from a corner.
Rashford broke into the restricted area and fired a sharp shot, but the home team's goalkeeper Pablo Campos made a confident save.
Levante had already had a goal from Jose Morales ruled out for offside before taking an unexpected lead in the 15th minute.
Jeremy Toljan delivered a long ball from the flank, linking up defender Ivan Romero, who beat his marker and headed the ball into the bottom corner.
Torres could have responded straight away for Barcelona after receiving the ball in the penalty area, but his shot hit the post.
A little later, the Catalans almost conceded from a set piece, but Adrian de la Fuente was unable to head the ball into the goal after a pass.
Rafinha also hit the woodwork with a header late in the first half as the visitors pressed hard.
In stoppage time, VAR found Alejandro Balde's hand in his own penalty area when blocking Morales' shot towards the goal.
The 38-year-old veteran converted the penalty to give Levante a two-goal lead in a half in which Barca controlled 85 per cent of possession.
Rashford's occasional partnership with Pedri failed to compensate for the Englishman's lack of influence on the game.
After the break, he and Marc Casado were replaced by Dani Olmo and Gavi, and just four minutes later Pedri reduced the gap with a long-range shot under the crossbar.
Three minutes later, Torres coolly closed in Rafinha's pass to level the score.
After Robert Lewandowski came on, the Pole demanded a penalty for contact with De la Fuente, but the referee remained adamant.
Torres fired the ball into Campos' hands, Rafinha sent the ball wide of the goal, and the Blaugrana became more active in search of victory.
The decisive moment came in the first minute of added time: Yamal's cross ricocheted off the head of defender Unai Elguezabal, resulting in a dramatic own goal.
