Tottenham captain Cristian Romero has ended a period of uncertainty surrounding his career by signing a long-term deal with the club.
The Argentine centre-back, whose move to Atletico Madrid was hotly debated earlier in the summer, was officially handed the captain's armband on Wednesday, replacing Son Heung-min following his departure from the team.
The 27-year-old's previous contract remained in force for another two years, but the parties agreed to extend the partnership until 2029, PA reports.
