Rasmus Højlund left out of Manchester United squad for Arsenal clash amid exit rumours

Rasmus Hjøjlund has been left out of Manchester United's squad for their opening Premier League match against Arsenal amid speculation over his future.

The 22-year-old forward has failed to live up to his transfer fee since signing for Atalanta two years ago for £64m (€74m) plus a possible £8m in bonuses.

Hjøjlund has been linked with a return to Serie A this summer and was an unused substitute for United's final pre-season friendly against Fiorentina last weekend.

New signing Benjamin Cesko was introduced ahead of the game and was on the bench for the Gunners' clash at Old Trafford, where the Dane's absence was particularly noticeable.

Ruben Amorim have also left Andre Onana out of Sunday's squad, although the Cameroonian recently returned to training after a hamstring injury hampered his pre-season preparations.

Altay Bayindir came on in goal for United, giving summer signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo their debuts.

Victor Dioceres, who worked under Amorim at Sporting Lisbon, and Martin Zubimendi made their Arsenal debuts.
