Manchester Originals looked well placed to reach the 138 target but an incredible loss of six wickets for nine runs saw Welsh Fire secure a comfortable victory.
A dreadful batting collapse of six for nine ensured Manchester Originals' first Welsh Fire win in The Hundred, and Jos Buttler's fifty for the Originals went in vain.
While trying to reach 138 for victory, Butler hit six fours and two sixes in his 57 off 34 balls before his wicket triggered the Originals' late collapse at 112.
With 35 balls remaining and 20 deliveries to go, Butler hit a ball to deep midwicket from Australian off-spinner Chris Green (3-19), who then added Lewis Gregory (21) four balls later.
