At least 20 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip overnight and on Saturday, according to local medical authorities.
The war with Hamas, now in its 20th month, continues unabated, even as Israel has opened a new front with major strikes on Iran, prompting retaliatory drone and missile attacks.
Another 11 Palestinians were killed overnight near food distribution sites run by an Israeli- and US-backed aid agency, the latest in near-daily shootings in the area since they opened last month.
Palestinian witnesses claim Israeli forces opened fire on the crowd, while the military insists they only fired warning shots near people they believe to be suspects approaching their positions.
These objects are located in military zones where independent journalists do not have access.
The Israeli military said it fired warning shots overnight to dissuade a group of people from its forces working in the Netzarim corridor, and also shot down a man who continued to approach.
The private contractor that runs the facilities, Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, said they were closed on Saturday.
However, witnesses say thousands of people still gathered near the sites, desperate for food as the Israeli blockade and military action have brought the region to the brink of famine.
Al-Awda Hospital reported receiving eight bodies and at least 125 wounded following gunfire near a GHF facility in central Gaza.
