French wild card Louise Boisson beat third seed Jessica Pegula to reach the French Open quarter-finals, causing surprise at Roland Garros.
The 22-year-old, ranked 361st in the world, stunned American Pegula 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in front of an adoring Philippe-Chatrier Court crowd.
Before this tournament, the only significant event in Boisson's career was that she was the subject of a complaint from Britain's Harriet Dart, who told the judges: “Tell her to use deodorant.”
However, on Monday afternoon she emerged smelling of roses after an impressive victory in the French capital.
It was a significant victory for Boisson, who was due to make her debut in Paris last year but suffered a serious knee injury two weeks before the tournament and was unable to compete for nine months.
In the quarterfinals, she will face sixth-seeded Russian Mirra Andreeva.
