Meanwhile, EPCR has confirmed that teams from the Champions Cup and Super Rugby will take part in the first ever Club World Cup in 2028.
The first version of the tournament will feature 16 of the best clubs – the quarter-finalists of the Champions Cup, seven Super Rugby teams and a Japanese club.
EPCR Chairman Dominic Mackay said the tournament would be held for a second time in 2032, with plans to hold it every four years.
