Revolut is removing one of its fees. It will be cheaper

The additional fee for currency exchange on weekends has been present in Revolut's offer from the very beginning. It was justified by the lack of quotes on the forex market and protection against exchange rate volatility. Now the bank is removing this item from the price list. However, this does not apply to all packages.

Revolut is spring-cleaning its pricing. The changes will please all those who use the currency exchange service and have opted for paid account packages. The additional fee for currency exchange on weekends is being eliminated in the Premium, Metal and Ultra plans. In the Plus plan, the fee will be reduced from 1% to 0.5%.

Standard package users (with no monthly fees) still have to reckon with an additional fee of 1%. One way to avoid it is to make a transaction in advance, e.g. buy currency before a trip abroad.

“Hidden, sneaky and exorbitant fees for buying and selling currencies used to be a real pain for travellers. Revolut changed the game. It introduced great rates and clear exchange rules so you can pay like a local when you’re abroad. Now, travelling is even easier. Revolut Premium, Metal and Ultra customers will no longer be charged an additional fee for exchanging currencies on weekends. This is the latest in a long line of benefits that come with Revolut’s paid plans, alongside global connectivity with eSIM, access to airport lounges and booking hotels directly from the app,” said Tara Massoudi, Head of Premium Products at Revolut.
