Max Verstappen relaxed about Red Bull's future after Helmut Marko comments

Max Verstappen has shrugged off rumours about his future at Red Bull, saying he is “very calm” about his current situation at the team.

A disappointing weekend for the four-time world champion in Bahrain prompted Red Bull motorsport consultant Helmut Marko to express “significant concerns” over Verstappen's future.

The Dutchman is just eight points behind championship leader Lando Norris but despite an impressive win in Japan, his Red Bull has been plagued by balance issues and is consistently losing ground to McLaren.

Marko's statements have revived old rumours of a possible move to Mercedes and Aston Martin, but Verstappen is reluctant to speculate.

“To be honest, I don't know who is talking about it except me,” Verstappen shared ahead of this weekend's Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

“I just want to focus on my car and working with the people in my team. That's all I think about Formula 1 right now.

“I'm very relaxed. I'm happy, but not entirely happy with our car.

“It's about everyone, we're all trying to improve, it's no secret, and that's what we're trying to do.”

Verstappen finished sixth in Bahrain on a track that exposed the Red Bull car's weaknesses.

After the race, Sky Sports reporter Ted Kravitz reported that he observed Verstappen's manager Raymond Vermeulen having a tense conversation with Marko.

“As far as I know, they discussed everything that was allowed,” Verstappen added.

“We were all disappointed that something went wrong at the race. My manager Raymond and Helmut talked about it and Christian (Horner) came over so they could talk.

“At the end of the day, we all care about the team. We care about the team, the people and the results.”
