World class team – Virgil van Dijk knows Liverpool face tough test against PSG

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk expects Paris Saint-Germain to present an even tougher test at Anfield than they did at the Parc des Princes last week.

They suffered a defeat against the Ligue 1 champions on Wednesday, something that has happened very rarely, if ever, in recent seasons, and they managed to snatch a 1-0 win at the end of the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

Luis Enrique's side head to Merseyside knowing they need to score to have any chance of progressing further and Van Dijk believes that could make them even more threatening.

“I think they are an outstanding team, a fantastic team, you can see the speed they have,” he said.

“After our game, of course, we had a showdown, and it was noticeable how, when they lost the ball, they put pressure on each other and acted in a coordinated manner.

“It’s a huge credit to the manager who has done such a job and, in my opinion, created a world-class team.

“It won't be easy on Tuesday and you'll all see that. I think those who expected us to dominate have not paid attention to PSG all season.

“We were very well prepared, although obviously we could have played better in some areas, but we know that Tuesday will be just as difficult, maybe even more difficult, because they will have to come and get a win.

“That's why we need to be more than ready for the big night. In this sense, we need the support of everyone: all the players, the staff and the fans.

“Hopefully it will be a great night for us, although it will be a tough job because they are a world-class team and they have already proven that in our meeting.”
