Simon Easterby enjoys 'pretty special' battles as Ireland face France

Ireland caretaker coach Simon Easterby is looking forward to seeing some of the best individual talent in world rugby in Saturday's Guinness Six Nations clash against title hopefuls France.

Les Bleus come to Dublin looking to secure top spot in the table heading into the final weekend of the tournament, while reigning champions Ireland are hoping to maintain control and continue their march towards the Grand Slam.

This decisive match has determined the fate of the championship title for the last three years.

Among the many fascinating aspects of the match, the standout was the clash between Antoine Dupont, arguably the best player in the world, and Jamieson Gibson-Park.

“It's exciting – two outstanding players at the peak of their powers and there are a lot of individual duels within the teams,” Easterby said of the battle for the No. 9.

“But it will be something completely unique.”

The hosts are top with 14 points having won three out of three, while Fabien Galthie's side are three points behind in second place having won against Wales and Italy but lost to England.

Ireland captain Keilan Doris and opposition number eight Gregory Alldritt overcame injuries to help their side.

“If you have two top nines playing each other, then you probably also have two top eights playing each other now, which creates another interesting twist,” Easterby added.

“Aldritt has been an outstanding player for them over the years.
