Ireland to face Georgia in Euro play-off semi-final

The Republic of Ireland have been drawn to face Georgia in the semi-final of the Euro 2025 qualifiers.

The two-legged tie will take place in October, with the Girls in Green at home for the second leg.

Should Eileen Gleeson’s side win the tie, they would then face either Slovakia or Wales in the second round in November for a place in next year’s finals in Switzerland.

Ireland will go into the tie full of confidence after a stunning 3-1 victory over France at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Tuesday. The victory over France, who are second in the FIFA world rankings, ensured Ireland were seeded for the qualifying draw.

Ireland beat Georgia 9-0 and 11-0 in 2023 World Cup qualifying ties.

Slovakia are ranked 50th in the world, to Ireland’s 25th. However, Ireland lost 2-0 to Wales in a clash in February.
