What happened during the Liverpool parade crash

A driver has been arrested after he apparently drove into crowds at a victory parade in Liverpool.

More than 50 people, including children, received medical care in various hospitals, 11 of whom remain in stable condition.

As the parade ended on Monday night, thousands of fans began to head home. The area was cordoned off and no vehicles were allowed. When reports came in that someone in the crowd was having a heart attack, the roadblock was temporarily removed to allow an ambulance to pass. Police believe the Ford Galaxy managed to get through.

– Dale Street

Video of the incident circulating online shows the van on Dale Street, just off the parade route. Surrounded by fans, the vehicle suddenly reverses, hitting a man. The crowd reacts angrily, kicking and punching the vehicle. It reverses again, hitting another pedestrian. A moment later, the vehicle speeds forward, with fans chasing after it.
