Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to Require Placebo Testing of All New Vaccines – Report

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. plans to change the way vaccines are tested, The Washington Post reported Wednesday, citing an HHS official.

The proposed change would require all new vaccines to undergo placebo testing – a process in which some participants are given the vaccine and others an inactive substance – before the results are compared, the paper said.

“All new vaccines will be assessed for safety in placebo-controlled trials before they are licensed, a significant departure from previous practice,” a spokesman for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services told The Washington Post.

The article mentions that the ministry did not specify how the changes would be implemented or which vaccines the testing would apply to.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services did not respond to a Reuters request for comment outside business hours.
